Hey there — I’m Eliana Poumbrou - Class of 1995, the heart and hands behind Amarélia Jewelry.
I joined ACS Athens in Grade 7 after moving from Brazil, without speaking a word of English and only a little Greek. Yet from the very first days, the school embraced me and quickly became home.
I’m forever grateful for the inspiring teachers who shaped my journey — Mr. Medeiros, Ms. Jasonides, Ms. Daley, Mr. Pisanias, Mr. Demos, Ms. Avgoustatos, Ms. Karvouniaris, Ms. Gournaris, Ms. Elmore — and for the lifelong friendships that began within those halls.
My fondest memories include the Humanities classes and trips, the Forensics tournaments, and the Drama Club performances that filled our school years with creativity and laughter. At graduation, I was deeply honored to receive both the Drama Award and the ECIS Award for International Understanding — distinctions that still hold a special place in my heart.
I grew up surrounded by the color, rhythm, and wild beauty of Brazil. It’s where my love for creativity first bloomed — in nature, in art, in the everyday magic all around me. After some years living in England and a few moves along the way, I’ve now been rooted in Greece for quite a while. This place, with its sunlight, history, and deep artistic soul, continues to inspire me every single day.
Before I dove into jewelry, life looked pretty different. For over 20 years, I was deep in the world of corporate tech sales — fast-paced, high-pressure, but also full of growth, learning, and a fair bit of globe-trotting. Still, even in the busiest moments, I’d find myself at my jewelry bench late at night, hands busy, heart full — quietly answering a call I couldn’t ignore.
In 2015, I took a leap — a small one, but it meant the world. I launched DoceMel, my first creative venture. Life steered me back to tech for a while, but that creative spark? It never went out. It just waited, patiently and faithfully, until the time was right to become something more.
That something is Amarélia. And I’m so glad you’ve found your way here.
