Daphne Stamou won the silver medal in the Taekwondo Panhellenic Championship which took place this November. Daphne is in her last year in the Junior division and thus was allowed to compete in the Senior's -62kg category, achieving second place. Also, in June Daphne competed at a qualifying international tournament in Bulgaria where a bronze medal granted her participation in the Under 21 European Championship in Tallinn, Estonia in August, where she ranked 9th.
Daphne is currently an IB Year 2 student and has been competing throughout her Academy years. When asked how this works out for her, she said: "It has been difficult to balance school and training in the last two years, and I really missed competing during the covid lockdowns. When tournaments 'restarted' in the spring I was grateful that ACS was very supportive and I could pursue my goals and passions."
