Launch Premiere Event

Friday, 28th of July at 5:30 PM

Hosted by the B&E Goulandris Foundation

Cinebur is proud to announce its inaugural event in Greece, hosted by its launch partner, the Basil & Elise Goulandris Foundation.

Cinebur will be premiering the recent 4K restoration of Hiroshima, Mon Amour in partnership with the Basil & Elise Goulandris Foundation, at the museum’s 187-seat Amphitheater, on July 28th, 2023. This Cannes-winning and Oscar-nominated film, one of the most innovative and celebrated cult classics of international cinema, will soon be made available to Cinebur's Hosts across Greece and Cyprus.

Tickets to this event are exclusively available on Cinebur’s highly-anticipated mobile app. This newly-released app is the first platform for social cinema experiences and the point of contact connecting Cinebur’s community of moviegoers, filmmakers, and Hosts.

Cinebur’s co-founders and ACS Athens alumni, Greek-Egyptian Doddi El-Gabry (Class of 2016) and French-American Thomas Desombre (Class of 2016), both grew up in Athens, Greece before starting Cinebur in London.

"We could not be more excited for Cinebur to be launching in our home, Athens, and to be partnering with the Basil & Elise Goulandris Foundation for our inaugural event. The Goulandris Foundation shares Cinebur’s passion for introducing new voices and perspectives, while building valuable community experiences through cinema art and culture,” said Doddi El-Gabry, who will be present for a discussion on cinema and Q&A at the event. "I look forward to sharing more about how Cinebur is creating new opportunities for independent filmmakers and community leaders like the Goulandris Foundation. I’m excited for the beautiful things that will come from this continued collaboration.”

Cinebur is now partnering with exceptional venues, community spaces, and small businesses across Greece and Cyprus to build upon its launch event and bring more social cinema experiences to moviegoers.

The duo personally reached out to invite ACS Athens alumni to the event.
