On Wednesday, March 29, 2023, ACS Athens Global will welcome four ACS Athens alumni back to campus for the ACS Athens Alumni Insights Session, where they will share with current seniors how ACS Athens helped prepare them for their professional careers and offer helpful tips on what students should consider as they make the most of their time at ACS Athens.
This event is being organized to help our graduating class of 2023 prepare for their next chapter in life.
Helping frame this conversation is a group of very special panelists, including:
- Dr. Peter Papageorgiou - Graduating ACS Athens in 1993, he first studied in the United Kingdom and subsequently at the University of Toronto, Canada. There he discovered a molecule that plays a key role in hypertension in people with chronic kidney disease. Still focusing on improving peoples' well-being, Peter’s career path pivoted to his next endeavor, combining healthcare consulting and an entrepreneurial spirit to help people with seasonal depression. He strongly believes in constantly evolving with the opportunities presented in one’s life journey and is always available to guide anyone with a great idea that fills an unmet need in society, a philosophy he is excited to share with students that attend the event.
- Maria Dimitrakopoulou - Maria graduated from Boston University in 2001 from the Questrom School of Business, majoring in Finance and International Management. Since then, she has worked in financial services and private investments. She has participated in and executed a number of mergers and acquisitions (M&A), as well as capital markets transactions in the USA and in the Greek market, with a total value in excess of $60 billion. Currently, she is the founding partner of Pluto & Partners, a Greek M&A boutique firm focusing on sustainable investment banking and advisory practices.
- Melina Vassiliadis - Melina Vassiliadis is passionate about utilizing the expansive network available to ACS Athens alumni, which she believes is a competitive advantage ACS Athens students have as they move on to university and in their careers. After studying broadcast journalism at the University of Florida, Melina grew her career in film and television production, which included serving as a supervisor of the International Broadcast Center for NBC Olympics for the 2004 Athens Olympics. Today, she is the Communications and Political Support Officer at the British Embassy in Athens, and she is excited to encourage students to embrace reinvention.
- Giorgios Sachinis - Giorgios Sachinis credits ACS Athens for learning how to work with different people from different backgrounds, and he brings that love for cross-sectional experiences to his work, both as the Director of Strategy & Innovations for EYDAP, and as the founder of Ohi Pezoume performing arts company, coordinator of the UrbanDig Project and director of the company’s performances. He is enthusiastic about discovering and utilizing different ways to communicate to mobilize community involvement and is looking forward to sharing with students how they can utilize their talents to support causes they care about.
In addition to our panelists, we invite alumni to attend the event and the small networking reception that follows, where students will be encouraged to meet and mingle with alumni in attendance to build on and expand beyond the panel discussion.
At this event, we will also preview the new Networking and Career section of ACS Athens Global, designed to continue building on the career resources available to ACS Athens alumni. The new Networking feature on ACS Athens Global will include a jobs board, career-related content, and networking opportunities.
Please register if you plan on attending so that we can make the appropriate arrangements.
