Who's Who

From Athens to Arizona

Born in Woodbridge, Virginia, Alexia Bertsatos’ life has been a vibrant journey through diverse cultures, experiences, and passions. From her formative years in Athens, Greece, where she attended ACS Athens from 1990 to 1995, to her current life in Phoenix, Arizona, Alexia’s story is one of transformation and a steadfast commitment to empowering others.

Her time at ACS Athens laid the foundation for a life defined by empathy, adaptability, and a global outlook. “ACS Athens taught me how to thrive in a multicultural environment and that leadership can be rooted in empathy,” Alexia reflects. The school’s international community and the lifelong friendships she formed remain among her fondest memories.

A Path Forged in Resilience

After graduating in 1995, Alexia pursued architecture at the University of East London—a practical choice, though her heart was drawn to fashion design. Her career evolved in unexpected ways, starting with interior design in real estate and culminating in her current roles as a real estate advisor and relocation expert.

A pivotal moment in Alexia’s journey came after a personal challenge: rebuilding her life post-divorce. “Choosing growth over fear and turning challenges into opportunities defined who I am today,” she shares.

Empowering Through Real Estate and Wellness

Today, Alexia is much more than a successful realtor; she is a wellness advocate, entrepreneur, and mentor. She supports families navigating life transitions, helping them integrate into new communities with grace. Her passion for wellness has also led her to invest in an EMS fitness studio, promoting holistic living.

Some of Alexia’s key accomplishments include:

  • Assisting families during pivotal life transitions as a top realtor.
  • Opening her Body20 studio to create a wellness-focused community.
  • Serving on the Advisory Board of the Global Chamber, mentoring young women in business.
  • Being featured as an early Arizona agent for the prestigious Serhant brokerage.
  • Navigating entrepreneurship while being a role model for her two children.

A Commitment to Giving Back

Alexia’s dedication to giving back is evident in her civic involvement. She serves on the boards of the PHX Theatre Company and the Global Chamber, organizes wellness events, and supports nonprofits like Teen Lifeline, which focuses on teen suicide prevention. One of her proudest moments was participating in “Dancing with the Stars of Arizona” to raise funds for the National Kidney Foundation.

Words of Wisdom

To current ACS Athens students, Alexia offers this advice: “Don’t be afraid to fail. The most successful people aren’t those who avoided failure but those who embraced it, learned, and kept going.” To her younger self, she would say: “Don’t worry about fitting into a box. You’re here to create your own.”

Looking Ahead

Alexia’s passion project centers on educating families about the power of real estate as a long-term investment. She advises parents on combining housing solutions with smart financial strategies when their children go to college.

She is also passionate about mentoring ACS Athens students and alumni in entrepreneurship, real estate, wellness, and personal branding. Beyond professional skills, Alexia emphasizes resilience, emotional intelligence, and a growth mindset.

The ACS Athens Connection

On a personal note, Alexia embodies resilience and energy, drawing inspiration daily from her two incredible children—a 10-year-old daughter and an 11-year-old son. As a shy yet bright student at ACS Athens, she left an indelible impression on her peers and teachers.

Though we didn’t meet during our school years, we were introduced by Eliana Poubrou ahead of the Class of 1995’s 30-year reunion. When we connected on a virtual call, it was as if we had known each other for years—a testament to the unique bond ACS Athens alumni share.

Whether it’s the hallways of the Academy, the backfield, the assemblies, or our shared teachers like Mr. Aggelonidis, Mrs. Delinikos, and the unforgettable Marietta Harris, there’s a magic that ties us together. ACS Athens instilled in Alexia “a foundation to feel at home anywhere in the world and the confidence to pursue both passion and purpose.”

Alexia is a true ACS Athens traveler—breaking boundaries, pivoting toward her dreams, and embracing life with a fearless spirit. Her newsletter, In the Loop, captures her journey and inspires her readers to see the world through her lens.

In her own words: “In a world that’s more interconnected yet more polarized, we need leaders who can navigate with empathy, cultural intelligence, and a deep sense of responsibility—not just to their immediate communities, but to the world at large. Today’s challenges don’t recognize borders. Solving them requires individuals who think globally, act ethically, and lead with courage and compassion. ACS Athens’ focus on this kind of education is essential for shaping the future we all hope to live in.”
