Celebrating the ACS Athens Class of 1995

On Saturday, July 12th, 2025, more than 40 proud graduates of the ACS Athens Class of 1995 gathered in Varkiza, Greece, to celebrate 30 years since their graduation. It was an unforgettable evening filled with laughter, music, dancing, and heartfelt reconnections.

Organized with care and enthusiasm by Eliana Poumbrou, the reunion was more than just a party—it was a celebration of lasting friendships and shared memories that have stood the test of time. The evening officially kicked off at 8 PM (early by Greek standards!) and lasted well into the early hours of the morning, wrapping up at 3 AM. One alum even left straight from the event to catch a flight back to the U.S.—a true testament to the enduring spirit and connection of this class.

Under a stunning full moon by the Greek seaside, classmates reminisced about their high school days—especially those iconic Saturday nights on paraliaki. It was not only a reunion of the Class of '95, but a true ACS Athens family gathering, with alumni from the Class of '93 also joining in, along with spouses, children, and friends who came together as one community to honor their common bond—ACS Athens.

Perhaps the most touching part of the evening was reading what organizer Eliana Poumbrou shared on her Facebook page:

“Kids of the '90s, when the world was our oyster and we didn't even know it.

We came from every corner: children of expats, diplomats, the Greek diaspora. Our school was a cultural mosaic, long before 'global citizenship' was a buzzword.

Since then, life has taken us in all directions—careers, families, joys, and challenges we didn't see coming.

And yet, last night, standing together again, the 17-year-old in each of us still shone through. Wiser now, yes, but still full of that spark.

Flying in from Madrid, Stockholm, New York, California, Arizona, Sydney, Singapore, Corfu, Lesvos… just to reconnect. That says it all.

And to those not physically with us, you were in our thoughts and hearts…

The ties we formed at ACS Athens are not undone by time or distance. They're deeper than that.

Keep on shining, my friends! Can't wait for the next one!!”

Indeed, this reunion was not just about nostalgia—it was a reminder of the power of shared experiences, the strength of lifelong friendships, and the unbreakable connection to a place that helped shape who we are today.
