Message to the Global Alumni by ACS Athens President Dr. Peggy Pelonis:

Dear ACS Athens Alumni,

I am pleased to share that ACS Athens has been recognized as an Exemplar School by the Middle States Association of Schools and Colleges (MSA); a distinction that affirms the vision, dedication, and collective excellence of our entire community.

As part of this recognition, ACS Athens hosted a Colloquium April 29-30, 2026, during the MSA mid-year review.  This academic and professional gathering highlighted our innovative educational practices, research-driven teaching, and commitment to holistic learning.  Educators, students, and distinguished visitors from around the world came together to experience firsthand the dynamic forward-thinking education that defines ACS Athens and the Colloquium concluded with resounding success.

Our faculty, staff and professionals showcased the exceptional work they have accomplished, both individually and collectively.  Together, we continue to position ACS Athens at the forefront of educational practice and thought leadership, a reality that fills us with immense pride.

My belief in the work we do, and in the mindsets, we strive to instill in our students, has been steadfast.  It is especially meaningful that this belief is now shared more broadly, as both the local and international community have witnessed and embraced the extraordinary work taking place at ACS Athens.

This is the power of a united community; we cultivate a culture of being, and we live the very principles we seek to inspire in our students each day.

The oral report by the MSA visiting team was both deeply affirming and inspiring, filled with acknowledgements and accolades that recognized the strength and impact of our work and the impact on student learning and preparedness for higher education and beyond.  I leave you with just a few of the comments shared by the visiting team members:

"The findings demonstrate positive trends in student growth, instructional practice, inclusion, and post-secondary readiness. At the same time, the openness with which challenges, surprises, and limitations were acknowledged adds credibility and integrity to the work.

This balance — between confidence in progress and honesty in reflection — is what characterizes a school operating at a high level of professional maturity.

ACS Athens demonstrates the characteristics of a true learning organization, where continuous reflection, evidence-informed practice, and collective inquiry are embedded across all levels of the school to drive sustained improvement and innovation.

ACS Athens is an exemplar of the Sustaining Excellence protocol in every aspect and in every way".

As I close, I extend my deepest appreciation to our alumni around the world.  Your continued support, connection, and belief in our mission strengthen our community in meaningful ways.  Thank you for standing by us and carrying the values of ACS Athens in all that you do.

Claim this legacy as your own, because your achievements, your impact, and who you have become are a powerful reflection of what we stand for, and a source of pride for us all.

Warm regards,

Peggy Pelonis
