If you are about to enter the job market or thinking about making a career change, worries over inflation, the energy crisis, and recent news of layoffs at big tech companies, may lead you to believe that this is a tough time for those seeking a new job.

The good news is that most experts with a deep understanding of current hiring trends would disagree.

Speaking to ‘Business Insider’ after the World Economic Forum’s annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland, Becky Frankiewicz, ManpowerGroup’s Chief Commercial Officer, noted, “there’s a lot more optimism now, particularly in the labor market.” She went on to explain, “so you saw the eurozone unemployment reached a historical low; the US labor market is on a 50-year low for unemployment. And so the labor markets are defying the odds of economic principles.”

Healthcare is one industry with a depth of opportunities driven in large part by the anticipated needs of an aging population in most of the world.

According to the U.S. News and World Report ranking of the 100 best jobs in America in 2023, focusing on occupations with the largest projected growth between now and 2031, 40% of the top 20 best jobs are or will be in healthcare, including:

  • Nurse Practitioner
  • Physician Assistant
  • Physical Therapist
  • Dentist
  • Physician
  • Orthodontist
  • Registered Nurse
  • Occupational Therapist

When considering a career field, it is helpful to hear from experts currently in the field about what drew them to work in the space, what education was needed, and where they see the field going in the future.

Through the Knowledge Series, ACS Athens alumni and other experts are invited to share exactly those insights, and here are three videos that shed light on the healthcare field from this digital career bank.

If you’d like to contribute your expertise to the Knowledge Series, either in-person or remotely from anywhere in the world, contact the Institute of ACS Athens (theinstitute@acs.gr).
