Class of 2014 summer gathering in campus!

Class of 2014 revisit their Biology classroom!

The sun shone brightly over the ACS Athens campus as the Class of 2014 gathered for their 10th anniversary reunion, a celebration of memories and friendships that had withstood the test of time. Organized by dedicated alums Veerle Versteef, Jimena Navarrete Zurita, and Alexander Sharp, alongside Lydia Skampavia, the Alumni Engagement & Development Officer and a proud alumna herself, the event promised an afternoon of reconnection and nostalgia. Around 20 alumni showed up, eager to revisit the school grounds where they had spent some of the most formative years of their lives. The reunion kicked off with a "Back to School Tour," starting with a visit to their old kindergarten classroom. Laughter filled the air as they shared childhood stories, and Alexander Sharp made a particularly delightful discovery when he spotted his painting on a tile outside his kindergarten class, a little piece of history that had endured the decade.

The group continued their tour, walking through the familiar hallways of the Academy building. They couldn’t resist peeking into the Biology room, where they took their seats as if no time had passed, playfully acting like they were students once again. Conversations flowed easily, with everyone catching up on life’s milestones—careers, families, and travels—while reminiscing about the teachers who had inspired them and the late-night study sessions that had bonded them together. "Reuniting with my old classmates in the familiar halls of ACS Athens was like a time capsule. So much has changed in a decade, and yet it felt so natural to reconnect over drinks, picking up right where we left off!" said Natalia Galanou, a graduate who attended the event.

As they wandered through the campus, the group made their way to the gym, where they paused to admire their year’s athletic awards, taking pictures to commemorate the achievements of their youth.

The day wouldn’t have been complete without a visit to the backfield. Just like old times, they kicked off their shoes, organized a spontaneous soccer game, and relived the simple joy of playing together, just as they did during Academy recess. The sounds of laughter and cheers echoed across the field, a sweet reminder of the bonds they had forged years ago. As the afternoon came to a close, the group gathered for a final photo, vowing to keep their connection alive and promising to return. They all look forward to March 2025, when they all hope to participate in the annual Alumni Insights session and meet the graduating class of 2025, sharing their experiences and advice with the next generation of ACS Athens students.
