What an amazing year 2023-24 was for ACS Athens alumni! This year, ACS Athens Global Alumni thrived in fostering connections and celebrating the achievements of its vibrant alumni community. Alumni participation, support and enthusiasm continued to grow this year with every event and outreach, impressively welcoming alumni from a range of graduation years making the experiences even richer as alumni of various ages and backgrounds came together to support each other and the school. From heartfelt gatherings to alumni awards and distinctions, we are honored to have been able to bring so many alumni together both on campus and across the globe.
From 120 campus tours and campus events, such as the Back to School BBQ, the Halloween party, the Holiday Bazaar and the Spring Fair featuring alum Lefty (Lefteris Portakaloglou) and his band, alumni gathered to reconnect and reminisce, fostering a sense of camaraderie and shared memories. Exclusive alumni gatherings, such as the wine & cheese soirée, the pre-holiday happy hour and post-graduation reunion at Chalet, and the touching ACS Athens Global events in Amsterdam, Miami and London provided intimate settings for networking and celebrating their ACS Athens roots.
Most luminous of all, the highlight of the social calendar was undoubtedly the ACS Athens Gala in November, where the Alumni Achievement Awards honored alumni Fotini Pazartzis and Taymoore Balbaa for their outstanding contributions, but alumni distinctions were deservedly a year-long affair.
Ann Lappas Stiles was recognized at the ACS Athens Global Miami gathering for her dedication in organizing stateside gatherings, setting the stage for an upcoming reunion event in Maryland this October.
Tom Mustin was celebrated with distinction as the commencement speaker for the Class of 2024 commencement festivities.
Beyond social events, ACS Athens Global also made strides in enhancing professional networking opportunities in the last year. In addition to bringing advice and expertise to students for Career Day, the Media Literacy Festival, and the annual Alumni Insights Session, new initiatives, including a job board, a popular business directory, and professional groups like entrepreneurs and art collective, provided valuable resources for alumni seeking to connect and collaborate.
"This year has been truly special for our ACS Athens alumni community," remarked Lydia Skampavia, ACS Athens Alumni Engagement & Development Officer and a proud alumna. "Seeing our alumni reconnect at various events and engage with the new professional networking tools has been incredibly rewarding. The success and enthusiasm we've witnessed reflect the strong bonds and lasting impact of our ACS Athens experience."
The success of ACS Athens Global this year is a testament to the hard work of the ACS Athens Global team, supported by ACS Athens administration, faculty, staff, and the Board of Trustees. Special recognition goes to ACS Athens students, including Nikolas Alexandrakis and Maggie Fanning, for their continued dedication and support.
Looking ahead, ACS Athens Global is eager to build on this momentum. After such an incredible year of celebrations and connections, we look forward to continuing to provide enriching experiences and opportunities for our alumni community.
